FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What is Spanish Intensives?
- The company:
- Spanish Intensives is an independent company that organises tailor-made, intensive language courses in Spain. We set up the company in 2004 to provide students following the OU Spanish courses with the opportunity to attend residential courses in Spain. We are, however, completely independent from the Open University.
Who runs Spanish Intensives?
- Tita Beaven:
- Tita has taught languages in Italy, Spain and the UK since 1991. She has been a lecturer in Spanish at the Open University since 1998. As well as writing and coordinating some of the OU Spanish materials, she has co-authored ¡Exacto! A practical guide to Spanish grammar.
- Fernando Rosell Aguilar:
- Fernando has been teaching languages since 1993. He is currently a lecturer in Spanish at the Open University, where he writes and coordinates course materials. He also is a course director and tutor on the L204 residential school in Santiago de Compostela, which he coordinates. Before joining the OU he taught at the University of Southampton and the University of Buckingham.
Can I stay additional nights?
If your flight arrangements require you to arrive or depart a day earlier or later, please let us know. Additional nights are charged at £50.00 per night. This price includes breakfast and meals (within the Hall of Residence meal timetable). Only one night either side of the course dates is allowed.
Do you offer a vegetarian option for the meals?
Yes. Vegetarian meals can be provided. However, you must specify that you are a vegetarian in the “additional comments” box when making your reservation. We will try to cater for any dietary needs but cannot guarantee this unless we are told well in advance.
I have additional requirements. Can I still sign up for the course?
If you have any special requirements due to a disability, please contact us before making a reservation to ensure we can cater for your needs.
If you have any circumstances that require you to bring a helper with you, we can arrange accommodation and meals at an additional cost.
I am not registered for an OU Spanish course. Can I still sign up for the course?
The course is exclusive to students taking Open University Spanish module L140. If you are not currently registered for L140 but have recently completed it, please contact us with details of when you completed the course before registering.
Do you offer any financial support for the course?
Unfortunately we are not able to offer any financial support. However, you may wish to contact your employers or local authority as some offer help with fees for courses.
